About Me

 Hello! I am Margarita Chacin
I am a psychologist who believes therapy should be a journey of self-discovery and not just a treatment of disorders...

I am a Chartered Health Psychologist based in Horley, Surrey offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and  Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I believe strongly that psychological interventions can make a significant and meaningful difference to the quality of people’s lives whether they are struggling with mental health difficulties or have just become stuck and want to find new ways to move forward in their personal lives, relationships or work.

I have over 10  years experience working with children and adults in Hospital and Private practice.

In addition to private practice, I also work for the NHS providing psychological interventions to patients with Chronic Pain conditions

What does being registered with the HCPC means?

The HCPC regulates health and care professionals in the UK and set up to protect the public. They only register professionals who meet their standards for their training, professional skills and behaviour.

This means that professionals registered with them are genuine and meet national standards. This offers you protection if professionals fail to meet these standards. You can also check with on their website that a professional is registered.

What does being chartered psychologist mean?

Chartered Psychologist status is the benchmark of professional recognition for psychologists and reflects the highest standards of psychological knowledge and expertise. If a professional is chartered it is a mark of experience, competence and reputation for anyone looking to employ, consult or learn from a psychologist. The title is legally recognised and can only be conferred by the British Psychological Society under their Royal Charter. Qualifying for chartered membership status requires high levels of academic attainment, periods of supervised practice and applied experience, a commitment to lifelong learning, and an engagement with the broader issues facing the profession.

I adhere to the BPS’s code of conduct and ethics which can be found here (http://www.bps.org.uk/sites/default/files/documents/code_of_ethics_and_conduct.pdf)
